I think you should think about using a preloader sequence - graphics or
intertitles?

You can then use "Load Movie" to load a .swf with your series of pictures.
The size of the movie that you load, should be tailored to match the
preloader sequence and it may be better to break your 20 pictures into 2 or
3 separate movies.

You will need to experiment but a .swf of between 50-100k works for me,
although the optimum size is dependent on the [un]known end users
connection, 10K loads in 1.42 secs @56k.

Load further .swf[s] in the background by the repeat the use of "Load
Movie", this way you can present the viewer with a seamless experience.
