Just to be argumentative....
How do you suggest a JavaScript programmer refrain from "giving away the
source".
What about a writer? Someone compared Flash to an art (which, of course is
true). But surely writing is an art and I'll bet you could take the source
text from "The Grapes of Wrath" and change a few words and have a story
about how everyone on the web moved to Flash then found there were no jobs
because everyone gave away the source.
My point: you're not giving anything extra away when you give the source
unless you have untrustworthy clients (and even then, you can protect
yourself legally).
