Plus, are not you interested in what experience you site viewers will have
if they need to download the player because they don't have it or need to
upgrade?

Which brings to mind - speaking of site redisign:
I think the Flash download page can be confusing to some people. In
retrospect, I did some Flash development for a client and when he went to
see it, he had to download the player, because he didn't have the current
one. I immediately got a phone call from him asking what to do next.

Now I know this page is clearly written . . . but I see how some could be
confused.

The reason a user gets confused, I beleive, is there are too many options.
It should be a blank page with a big fat download button. I know that's not
going to happen, but I think a more obvious approach would be better. After
all, they came to my site, and now they are at MM site to download and being
presented with too many options.

Also, shouldn't step2 actually be step1?

I want them to download it and get back to my site ASAP.

The button needs to be front and center . . .

Because I want to still show something to the other 11%. That is a lot of
users.

Plus 50% of the traffic to one of my sites is with in that 11%. ;)

Why?

"89% of browsers have the flash plug-in" (Macromedia)

;)
