Sorry about my rant here - I truly hope others are interested in this too .
.
. . .and that we get some justification about it all . . .
Now, when you click to install you get this afterwards:
http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/triggerpages/flash.html
The part that really bothers me is more advertising and it even says:
"When you see the Flash Player movie playing below, your installation is
successful. The installation should take less than a minute on a 56.6K
modem."
"When the movie above appears, continue on to shockwave.com"
NO, I want them back at my page. Not to shockwave.com
ShockWave.com is cool and all - but really isn't for the audience of this
particular web site.
The Download page should be a utility, not a marketing piece. Except to
instill confidence in someone (MM) installing SW on their computer . . .
What do you guys think?
I bring this up because I recently launched a Flash site and 36% of the
initial users had to go to the MM site and download the plug-in.
23% needed to upgrade
13% needed a player
