JGL,

True, due to the fact that officially Opera doesn't exist as far as
Macromedia is concerned installing the plugin isn't as easy as it could be
and requires user intervention to correct the errors the installer makes.
Also Macromedia gets no feedback on the installation so I guess Opera plugin
downloads count as failed downloads.
This must be some sort of hardcoded policy that Macromedia implements :
