Hello List,
Here is my 2 cents on the subject. We, the developers, paid a decent amount
of money to purchase the tools to create Flash. Nothing wrong with that.
Then, when a potential client or customer comes to our site without the
Flash Plug-In, We have to fight a 2-fold battle. 1) we have to convince the
visitor that downloading the plug-in is safe and more than worth their
precious time. 2) then we have to hope that they remember us after they have
the download and not be tempted to go to another site. This is not very fair
play. I would expect this kind of behavior from Microsoft, not MM. Solution.
Either drop the button that goes to Shockwave, or let us have the plugin on
our server and send us instruction on how to implement downloads from our
own servers. It's hard enough to attract visitors to our site, it is really
a day to day uphill battle, then to have our own software betray us. I say
"MACROMEDIA do your advertisement some where else, we earned the customer,
leave them alone." Give us the option to provide a link to shockwave.com on
our own site. This is something that has bugged me for awhile. I hope
Macromedia realizes that the are screwing the people who put meat on their
table. Thanks for your time.
