I just went to the site with no Flash plug-in with Netscape Communicator
4.72. The player it installed was 4.0 - went there directly just fine, no
double-download required.

I havenot checked IE, because I have yet to figure out how to uninstall the
current player from IE. Hmmm. Renamed windows/system/macromed to
macromed1, but the http://www.efxit.com immediately started playing its
Flash content, so that wasn't it.
