Hey, after suggesting another poster look into Shout3d, it just struck me
that you might be able to achieve this using a sphere with flipped normals
and a properly warped texture applied to the _inside_ of the sphere. Since
Shout also requires no plug-in (also uses Java) and can be set to navigate
with smooth mouse motion including zoom (unlike the lingo demo mentioned
earlier, sorry) and see the sphere as a collision object (so you couldn't
escape from it;-) it might just be a great way to provide plug-in less 360
VR (and you could mix-in 3D objects w/in your sphere as well). Only (-) I
can see (besides developing something that hasn't been done yet, AFAIK;-) is
that the file size of textures of decent resolution might be a bit large.

Anyway, more at http://www.shout3d.com, including the news that Shout3d v2
will stream, yum yum;-)...

If it works, don't tell IPIX (I can just see them suing Sun next for making
more than one way to do things in Java;-).

Hey, anyone know if Director8 can play java3d/vrml files?
