Subject: FLASH: OT: "Uglified" graphics... help!
From: ComposiMo

Ok, i have an interesting problem that i have never seen before. I am working
on my new webpage, and i have a few jpg graphics for the buttons and logo...
yes, this is an html site (but it does have a flash banner :-) Anyway, if
i start out with a freshly cleared browser cache in I.E.5, the buttons and
everything look fine... but then i go to view the site with AOHell, and all
of the graphics look like they have been seriously beaten up with the
perverbial "ugly stick"... it looks like i saved them with full jpg
compression.... i.e. no quality. Then the wierd thing happens... if i exit my
page in aol, then reload it in I.E.5 the graphics go from really nice to
"uglified" there also! would anyone care to offer a suggestion as to what i
am doing wrong? Did i save them wrong? they look fine when you first look at
them, but when you open them in aol they go to crap in a handbasket... ive
never seen anything like it before.
the url for the page i am referring to is
http://www.digitalrodder.com/index2.htm
The rest of the links work also, but they just simply go to "mirrors" of the
home page.... by the way if you click on another button, use your browsers
back button to return to the home page, and do not click on the "Home"
button... it will go to my site that is running at the moment... not this
one. but i created the mirrors to see if there was something going wrong with
just the homepage... the rest of the sites resemble whatever the home page
looks like.... so if the graphics suck on the H.P., the graphics will suck
everywhere else also... If it helps any, this site was created in
Dreamweaver..... could it be dreamweavers fault that this is happening? is
there a button that i forgot to press before i saved them all?
heeeeeelp..... please :-)

Sorry for the long, and OT post, but there are some awesome graphics folks on
this list, so i figured they would be the right ones to talk to about this..

Regards,

John Ward
