Subject: Flash in a 1.54Mbps world?

Hi Dave, DG and all,

I've been wondering, since DG's post, how Flash will fare in a world of
1.54Mbps DSL Lite modems. I think there will always be a need for vector
graphics, no matter how fast the Web gets. However, I would want to see
these streaming vector graphics work with streaming video and sound, as
well as searchable text. I want the ability to layer Flash movies over a
video sequence so, for example, the user gets glossy, vector buttons
alongside the video. I would also want text, stored in database, to be
pulled into the "Flash movie" on-the-fly as vector graphics text.

When 25 frames per second, full-screen streaming video with sound becomes a
norm, and the Web becomes a lot more like a TV screen, rather than a
magazine page, I would want the ability to layer the video, sound, vector
graphics, ascii text, bitmaps etc. into a synchronised multimedia experience.

er, I suppose Shockwave Director would then come of age.

Andrew
