Subject: FLASH / js / frames
From: Chad Richard

PLEASE HELP!

i am calling a javascript function from the url portion of the button
link property in flash like this: javascript:functionname('parm'); - the script
exists in the same document as the flash embed tag, but the document
itself exists within a larger frameset. here's the problem: this only
works when I view the document in a window by itself, if i try this
while its part of the frameset i get a javascript error to the effect of
"functionname is not defined". i've tried to use something like
self.functionname('parm'); and parent.framename.functionname('parm');
but that hasn't seemed to work either and i'm not sure the syntax is
correct.

this is with communicator 4.04 on a pc, that's all I've tested it with
so far. has anyone seen this? do you know how to remedy it? thanks
much.

thanx
chad
