Hi dante,
Apologies if this has already been sorted, but my mail server is down at
the moment.
I think you'll find that the mac projector will have lost its type and
creator attributes which are stored in a separate hidden file on the Mac
(Resource Fork). The only sure way I know of retaining the type and creator
is to make it a macbinary or binhex file in a utility such as stuffit. The
problem is that you'll need a utility to convert it back again. I think
Drop Stuff is installed as default on OS8, which would do the job.
You can set up translators (shipped with the system these days) on the mac
that will automatically give the file the right type and creator to match a
dos extension, but they don't (as far as I know) have flash files setup as
default, its all the usual .doc for word stuff. I use a shareware called
'filetyper' to change my type and creator. You can setup 'autotypers' that
you can drag and drop files on.
It would be interesting to know if anyone has a good solution to this
issue. I know ISO9660 CDs I have created using Mac CD writing software can
be read on both the Mac and PC and the Mac System can resolve the original
and the hidden file. Maybe newer versions of 'Zip It' on the Mac can store
the hidden file along with the main one but the version I have doesn't.
