To create a symbol that is on your main timeline with layers intact:

1) Deselect all

2) Highlight the frames: Lefft click the upper left frame on the top

layer and hold the mouse down and drag to the far right frame on the

bottom layer. This wil highlight (darken) those frames.

3) Release and click again to select copy frames

4) Select Insert Create Symbol

5) Type in a new symbol name and check the correct type of symbol.

6) Check OK

7) Highlight the single empty frame, click and select paste frames

   Note if you didn't deselect all in step one you will see images in

your new symbol before you paste, but if you select and highlight all

the frames before you paste frames they will be replaced and the new

symbol will be the same will everything appearing in its correct place

after the paste frames.


8) If there are objects or layers you don't want in the new symbol it is

often easier to just remove or edit in the new symbol.
