Hi Larry,
Well, it seems I had to resort to putting the sound on my main timeline to create the effect that I needed. I guess I have a big wish list request for Flash.
Anyway. What I had to do is put my sound in a keyframe at the beginning just after the first part of the animation loaded. I set the sound to loop twice and sync to stream, and put a keyframe in another layer where the sound was almost over, sending it back to the frame label where I have the sound starting. This created a somewhat smooth loop (not as nice as the MC tho). I then put another keyframe down the line (past the loop point) with the same sound, only this time, I didn't loop it, sync to event and faded it out. I set the action on the button to go to the frame where that 2nd sound started. So when someone clicks on the button, it goes to that frame, plays and then fades out right away (should I add this is a pretty short clip?). While that is fading out, I have the final sound, that used to be in my 2nd MC start underneath, and play for the rest of the time.
It works ok, but I am really bugged that I couldn't keep that sound off of my main timeline. but I spent hours trying every possible combination I could think of, with no success.
Hope this helps your situation.
