Subject: FLASH: small movie to determine whether user has plugin installed
From: d.l.cheseldine

Quite a lot of Flash sites now seem to have a mini movie with a message
along the lines of "If you can see this movie then you have the Flash
plugin, otherwise...."

Do these have any other purpose other than saving the user the time of
downloading a large file only to see the broken plugin icon? (Though that
seems a good enough reason).

Also, if the user doesn't see the movie, then is it normal practice to
provide a link to Macromedia's plugin download page?

Thanks
