David, you can send the variables as follows:

within the Object tag, add to the Value of the movie as such (variable name
is "test" and I'm setting it to "whynot")

<PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="Movie1.swf?test=whynot

Then in the Embed tag, do the same:

<EMBED src="Movie1.swf?test=whynot" quality=best bgcolor=#FFFFFF WIDTH=100%
HEIGHT=100% TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE=.....
