You can also do this matematically using equations for the curve... I have
done such with half a circle... though I am also working with a version
which will actually measure angles...

The only way I think I can do this off hand is to make a clip of the object
moving around the path - then test to see if the mouse is over the object
(make the object a button) then track mouse co'ords left/right until it
reaches the cusp of the ellipse, thenswitch right/left.....playing the movie
clip frames to correspond to the mouse position - if you see what I
mean......
