Subject: FLASH: Gamma issues and Jpegs

I thought this was important considering our discussion. It comes from
the Photoshop digest list regarding embedding ICC profiles in your output
jpeg and other files {P>P is profile to profile conversion}:

> Your latter statement is why I wanted an sRGB profile embedded. I
>had never noticed what was going before because, when I reviewed my
>JPEGs with my browser it looked fine because my browser didn't pay
>attention to the profile. Since then, it has come to my attention
>that browsers for the Mac do allow the profile to be recognized and
>displayed properly. If I do not embed sRGB there is a good chance my
>image created and saved with a gamma2.2 will be displayed with a
>gamma1.8. I now know (as I suspected) what is happening ... but PS
>could make this common practice a lot easier (and less confusing) by
>putting a "P=>P and embed" dialog in their "save a copy" or "export"
>actions. That is, why would one ever P=>P if they didn't intend to
>embed the same profile???
