Your problem lies within the text file you created, make sure you have
defined your variables correctly using this notation:
item1=this is item one
&item2=this is item two
&item3=this is item three
notice the ampersands, these must precede every consecutive variable apart
from the first one.
Hope that's of some help.

++ Hi.......I am rather confused.
++
++ I have put together a scrolling text via
++ variables......which works fine if
++ I use the text.txt file supplied with the .fla file. But as
++ soon as I either
++ save the supplied text.txt file or try to create my own
++ text.txt file the
++ text doesn't appear in the text box and naturally the scroll
++ buttons don't
++ work. If I then unzip the original text.txt over the top of the saved
++ text.txt it works again. This is the same for the .fla file
++ supplied with
++ the tutorial or my own .fla file.
++
++ It doesn't matter whether I save the .txt files in wordpad
++ or notepad I have
++ the same problem.
++
++ Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
