Yes, well, if you ask a group of web professionals, designers and
typographers, then you'll probably get the answers that you got every time.

Only you know who you're precise intended audience is going to be, and if
you are happy with the site as it is, and you think it's going to work for
that audience, then stick with it.

In the end, there's only one way to find out.

A little exagerated. Though the better you are typographically, the easier
and less time consuming it becomes. Getting into good habits is not going to
do any harm.

No. But the funny thing is, even the untrained eye responds better to
something that is designed well. Otherwise, why would we all go to college
in the first place?
