Subject: | FLASH: I.E. taking over Get URL |

An out-of-town client recently visited and we looked at the Flash site I
built him (http://www.dartfrogmedia.com/rickfrnd). I was playing the .swf
locally on an offline machine (Win98), and we weren't using the browser at
all. When the .swf reached a place where it Gets URL into another HTML
frame (to play midi in a hidden frame), we were surprised to see that I.E.
opened up automatically. This would not be so strange if I.E. were my
default browser, but on that machine I had set Netscape as the default
browser (I even checked my file type associations and tested it again by
clicking on an html file).
None of this is a shock (I'm used to Bill Gates's "conquer the world"
strategy) but I still wonder why I.E. opened at all. In the past, when I've
tested .swf's locally/offline, Get URL's had no effect if the Flash was
being played outside of the browser. Possibly the Get URL's in those
instances were not referencing a frame but, rather, a new page.
Anyone have a clue into this? Anyone know how to disable I.E. from taking
over Get URL's when Netscape is already the default browser?
thanks.
