Make your text symbol a movie clip, just so you can give it an instance name
so you will be able to programmatically change its properties. Double click
on the text movie clip and name it something (we'll pick "mcText"). Now,
double click on the button instance that is on the stage (don't open & edit
the button) and click on the "actions" tab. Click the plus, click on Set
Property, pick "alpha", type "mcText" in the target box, (don't type the
quotes) and go to the parameter box & put the % you want (you don't put the
% sign, just the number, like 50). Now look in the actions box to the left
and see where it automatically put in "on release"? Click on that line so
you can change it to "on roll over" by unchecking the "release" box and
checking the "roll over" box at the right.
