Thanks for the suggestion. I've seen this in the archive as I was
entering stuff but didn't know if it was even possible to change pitches
and so forth (never done any sound editing). However, I also went back
and found that both Marc Hoffman and Brad Bechtel have posts in the
archive which state that "Flash works best with sound files that are
11.025, 22.050, or 44.1 kHz." So I took your suggestion, grabbed
CoolEdit 2000, and found that the sound I was using was sampled at 8k,
which made the Flash conversion sound much ruder than the original
"hmm". I used the Convert Sample Type to set it to 11k, and--wonder of
wonders--the sound in Flash is now like the original sound. Doh!
(Somehow you can read and read, but it never sinks in til you actually
do it!) CoolEdit certainly looks worth the money, too--another toy to
eat up the hours...
