hi Susana,

Animations are really quite straight forward, so it was probably
my fault for not being more clear my first time around. I shall try it
again :) When you create a symbol, there are three choices - graphcs,
buttons, and movie clips. It's this last one that we are interested in.
When you create a movie clip, you are basically creating a Flash
movie inside of a flash movie. Movie clips have their own timeline which
runs regardless of what is happening in the rest of the movie. Your
movie could be paused in a frame, at the end of a scene, whatever. Your
movie clip will play on.
When you create a button, you have the option of importing other
symbols into your button states. In the case of coloradoavalanche.com, a
movie clip consisiting of that (really cool, nice and smooth) twirling
ninja-star-thing-a-ma-bob was placed in the over button state. As long
as the mouse is over the button, the movie clip will play. Movie clips
loop by default, so this is why it just keeps running.
I'm guessing a bit at how the twirling was done (maybe the fellow
from coloradoavalance.com could comment :) but it looks like the effect
is a combination of rotation/size/shape(?) tweening, with alpha and tint
effects thrown in to get the colour shifts. Like I said above, what I
really like about it is the fact that it is so smooth. Granted, I'm on a
fast PC, but still.

I hope that is a better explanation that last time. Let
me know if you have any questions,

Jason
