Hmmm interesting thought.
"If they're going to speak to me in English, they'd better do it
correctly..."

A teacher is most likely the weak link here. Not the designer him or
herself. When we learn German, Spanish or anything else, we learn this
really crappy, half-ass version of the real language. If one plans to become
fluent in any language, one MUST live in that specific country for a while
and they will realize that what they were taught is garbage. The teachers
themselves are from that nationality.....not from an English speaking
background.

I feel the site was excellent !! If I did a site in Russian, I'm sure I'd
get the same thrashing for my grammatical mistakes from every Russian
designer out there.

(For all of the European designers....my opinion is based on the fact that I
am American and my wife is a Russian, German, French, Spanish, Chinese
linguist.)
Just like everything else. You must surround yourself with a subject and
experience it in order to master it.....and not everyone wants to live here.
;-)

ON THE FLIP SIDE: There are text editors that employ Spell Check.

(***marcus steps down from his soap box and slowly glances into the crowd of
angry designers holding their mice, ready to whip marcus into mash
potatoes***)

I was waiting for someone to say this.
If they're going to speak to me in English, they'd better do it correctly...
I don't care if they're from Beta Pictoris.
You may not be incorrect in your assumption, but it in no way excuses the
mistakes.
It's a damned shame to have such a great-looking site and have it marred by
spelling errors (and I won't go into the "U R" stuff). You can't just pay
attention to one aspect (the graphics) on a website and not give the same
attention to EVERYTHING on the site... as I said, it's inexcusable. A
website is a total package that says something about the person/people who
have put it up, and any fault is a fault, and it colors my impression of
what has been done.

Expect me to call attention to spelling errors in the future whenever I see
them.
