Other applications (Apple Data Detectors and BareBones' Mailsmith come to mind) direct the call to the default mail client instead. While both approaches may seem to make sense, the result of the current choice is that in a stand alone Flash projector the resulting behavior is confusing (maybe not to me, but definitely to the end user who clicks the button: "huh, where did that browser come from?...") and hardly desirable, especially on machines where memory is at a premium.

On the Mac, I would much prefer it if the mailto getUrl would be mapped directly to the default mail client. I'm assuming a similar approach is possible in Windows.
