FLASH: General role of Flash in webdesign...

I am currently trying to figure out how important the general role of

Flash is for webdesign issues.


The webdesign firm I work for, generally speaks against the use of

Flash for real website design. The great idol of my bosses seems to be

Jakob Nielsen (http://www.useit.com/), a purist in "webdesign".

Usability is very important in webdesign, but IMO you can combine it

quite good with Flash.


My views of web- and multimedia-design seems to collidate sometimes with

that of my "bosses". :(


So, what are your opinions? How important is the presence of Flash in US

webdesign?
