On the PC side I'm sure there are tons of alternatives. On the Mac, I have
been experimenting with using form�Z to do this, as it can export to
respectable EPSs. However, form�Z is primarily a solids modeler and
architectural visualization tool, so its animation abilities are limited to
moving the camera, and even that is a pain. It's a truly great modeler, but
you wind up doing lots of touchup in Illustrator (FreeHand can't open these
EPSs for some reason, so you have to at least pass it through Illustrator).
If you can render a few stills and tween them in Flash it wouldn't be so
bad.

Not a great solution, I know. I'm just reporting what's available on the Mac
side because that's what I know.

And one more thing, form�Z's learning curve is pretty bad.
