Hi William and all,
Run down on Mac IE features or rather lack of features:
Detection:
No Script detection of plugin possible.
Detection script relying only on JavaScript has two possibilities:
1) Set up to always provide alternate content (GIF or FlashJava or
alternate page).
2) Always expose player to Flash Player, if no Flash plugin present
visitor will get No-Plugin Icon.
Script Communicartion:
No script communication with Flash is possible because Mac IE doesn't
have a 32 bit version of either Live Connect or ActiveX (or even an
option to host one that I know of).
VBScript:
IE4 Mac doesn't have VBScript but when encounters an HTML page with
VBScript, by default, it will let you know (with a popup box) there is
something on the page it doesn't understand (VBScript).
Local playback:
Cannot preview Flash files locally without Microsoft Personal Web
Server. Browser is unable to connect to a file using local file syntax
(file://), it can only connect with Web syntax (http://).
