Subject: FLASH: 11th Hour Goof: A Warning to other Fools like Me!

Hi Flashers,

Just a quick heads-up for those of you who might fall into this trap,
particularly at the 11th hour, like I did. Been developing a large
presentation for a company show in France. I split the work up with myself
doing the main timeline stuff and an in-depth piece. My coworker was doing a
set of screen shot animations with commentary. His stuff was all production
work and I anticipated no difficulties. He wrapped it up today, handed it to
me and I turned it into movie clips and started loading it on the timeline.

WELL! Turns out he used the same symbol names across his files. Result was
massive crossovers (first name symbol wins by the way!). I've got banners
from multiple products on the same screen and all sorts of other fun. Fix
one and then I discover that it looks right but the product name is wrong.
Perfectly aligned, just wrong! Great fun! Also it's amazing how much Flash
slows down as you start to add these monster clips with all their bitmaps.
Yeah, could .swf them all but I'd rather do it in one file so our marketing
guy doesn't have 10 .swf's to deal with.

Bottom-line: Don't give your symbols the same name across separate files if
you intend to make them clips in one movie later.
