A friend of mine at Macromedia asked me to put out some feelers for
talented programmers who would be interested in working on "Project
Whirlwind." Read the job descriptions below, and, if interested,

Title: Senior Software Engineer

Location: Redwood Shores or San Francisco

Today, Macromedia is the market leader for Web authoring software. This is
due in large measure to our world class engineering organization. Just in
the last two years our teams have created a string of market successes that
include products such as Flash, Dreamweaver, Generator and Fireworks.

Macromedia�s vision is to become the market leader for the entire web
publishing lifecycle. Our next step towards realizing this vision is to
build an enterprise product for web content management, code named Project
Whirlwind. This product will address the web production problems resulting
from dramatic increases in the volume of web content, the numbers of
contributors and the variety and complexity of content. Project Whirlwind
will be a complete enterprise solution incorporating content contribution,
content management, web team production management, content verification and
site deployment.

To create this new product, we are building an entirely new engineering
team. As a member of this team you will have the opportunity to shape not
only a new product, but also a new enterprise business for Macromedia. Your
work will span all phases of the product development lifecycle, from
requirements gathering and feature specification, through to code freeze.
You will be charged with revolutionizing web publishing and creating
Macromedia�s next product success.

Project Whirlwind is looking for senior software engineers with the
following skills and experiences:

Have developed enterprise and/or web software.
Have participated in all phases of the product development lifecycle.
Have served as a principle contributor to at least one shipping server or
desktop product.
Two to five years experience coding in C/C++ and/or JAVA languages.
Development experience on Unix and/or Windows platforms.
Ability to communicate effectively with teammates and customers.
Additionally, Whirlwind is looking for technical expertise in one or more of
the following areas:

SQL databases
source code control systems
application servers
XML
ActiveX/COM
