If, Loop, variables and more are ActionScript elements (I am defining

this  in an upcoming tutorial), but more important are what is Flash 3

compatible (see below).

No, though they could have ActionScript components if expression (=) is

selected.

Properties are Flash 4 only.

When you export a Flash movie as as Flash 3 then everything should be

Flash 3 compatible unless you have sound set as MP3.


In a series of articles starting next week, I will be showing everyone

how easy it will be to combine Flash 3 and Flash 4 content in the same

file. The articles will explain what steps need to be taken to ensure

your Flash 4 movies will play in Flash 3 browsers without problema and

using just the Flash 3 features.


Until yesterday I recommended not to try to do any dual purpose Flash

3/4 SWF movies except for the use of MP3 sound for Flash 4 that results

in no sound for Flash 3. This will no longer be my recommendation for

most Web sites. It will be easy to add some additional Flash 4 content

and control how Flash 3 will react to it. I am working on the tutorials

to explain some needed basics, then how this will work and finally how

to implement it.

The following actions in Flash 4 are Flash 3 compatible 

assuming expression (=) is not selected.


Go To


Play

Stop


Toggle High Quality

Stop All Sounds


Get URL - with Variables set as Don't Send (No POST or GET)

FS Command - some commands are Flash 4 only

Load/Unload - no Load variables into Location

            - no Location: as Target (Load into Target)

            - with Variables set as Don't Send (No POST/GET)


Tell Target

If Frame is Loaded

On Mouse Event (no On (Key))


MP 3 sound is not Flash 3 compatible.
