While the IAB reports that Internet advertising rose 35% in
the second quarter, many Internet marketers continue to
search for better ways to brand Web users. San Francisco-
based Onflow thinks it just may have that better mousetrap.

The company has introduced a proprietary, player-based
technology that provides relatively compact broadcast-like
animations complete with anti-aliased text. Onflow will
soon provide a free authoring tool that allows advertisers
to create ads that go beyond the current state-of-the-art
in banner design.

In addition to the player and authoring tool, Onflow will
handle ad serving via HTML redirects and promises to provide
detailed ad tracking and reporting. While player-based
systems usually present major distribution obstacles, Vice
President Bill Niffenegger tells ICONOCAST that the company
will soon announce major alliances that will help jump-start
distribution.
