I can't tell what is wrong with yours but the following does work.

It goes to frames labeled John on both the main timeline and in the

movieclip mc1.

It is best to copy and paste your code from Flash directly to your email

so we can better chack for syntax errors.


Set Variable: "myVariableText" = "John"


On (Press)

      Go to and Stop (/:myVariableText)

      Begin Tell Target ("/mc1")

            Go to and Stop (/:myVariableText)

      End Tell Target

End On
