You're right, the PaintShop Pro native file format may not be the most
effective exchange format. You should be able to use PNG, though, whether
as a small 8-bit image or a larger file with transparency. JPG and GIF are
other exchange formats too.

(Please remember, though, that SWF is designed for streaming vector
interactivity... one common trap that folks fall into early is over-relying
on photo-processing techniques they learned earlier. You definitely can use
bitmaps effectively in SWF, but a lot of people get hurt by overuse of such
photographic art too.)
