Hi Al and all.
> Hey, what is the plug-in (if any) viewers need to run Director movies?
The Shockwave for Director plugin or ActiveX control.
> Is it the same thing we use for Flash?
No separate plugin and ActiveX control for each.
But if you download 'Shockwave' or 'Shockwave - The Works' you get both
Flash and Director plugins.

> Morover, I've read that about 25 percent of surfers can run Flash.
25% is probably a very outdated and low figure for Flash.
In fact it is likely that 50% or more of web surfers on the web at any
time have the Flash plugin. This is because users who spend more time on
the web are more likely to have the Flash plugin or ActiveX control
installed. So the actual number of Flash capable browsers may be 35% of
Web users (estimated at 100 million Web users worldwide), the actual
percentage of surfers actually surfing with Flash at any particular time
is likely to be much higher.
If anyone has a high traffic non-Flashed site where a Test of Flash
browsers could be run please let me know. The test would be a single
forms button that would do a simple JavaScript/VBScript test if a
browser was Flash capable or not and a second test with a small Flash
Movie for the 15% or so that are untestable with script. If script
testable a single click will submit the statis automatically. If not
script testable then the user would answer if he sees the monkey or not
(or some other easily identified object). Very low bandwidth and very
quick.
If done correctly we could have a statistically correct answer on how
many surf with Flash 3 or Flash 2.
----------------------------------------------------------------
14.5% of Web surfers are using a browser
than comes with Flash 3 pre-installed.
11% Win and Mac 4.05-4.07 versions
3.5% Win and Mac 4.5 versions
These numbers are growing fast one month ago this was about 6.3%.

Hi MM staff can anyone give us updated stats?
This page is getting quite stale with facts fronm January.
Or do we have to wait 3 more months?
