Subject: | FLASH: tell target, actionscript equivalent? |

There is something I've been trying to figure out how
to do for a looonnnngggg time and it suddenly dawned
on me how to do it in Flash3 with TellTarget. What am
I talking about?
I wanted to know when someone had clicked on a
succession of buttons (i.e. I would know when they had
clicked a series of buttons so that an action would
take place, like tell an animation to play). I can do
it with telltarget but I want to know if anyone can
figure out a way to do the same thing with Flash4
(cause I'm actionscript illiterate.)
Here is how to do it using telltarget:
1. All the buttons that are part of "series A" have a
telltarget that will tell MC "animationA" to Go to
Next Frame.
2. All buttons that are not part of series A have a
telltarget that will tell MC "animationA" to Go to
Previous Frame.
Thus if there are five buttons that are in series A,
they have to move MC "animationA" forward 5 frames
before they can see the animation. The only way to do
that is to click all the correct buttons in
succession.
That is how to do it in Flash3. Is there an easier way
using Flash4? If there is, I would love some help.
Also, if anyone knows of a really good basic, idiot
guide to actionscript, please let me know. I assure
you, I can be taught, it just takes a little longer.
;-)
