Hi Colin,
I doubt there's enough detail in your message for anyone to know exactly
what's wrong. Certainly if I were you, I'd try re-installing Flash. You can
also use TaskManager to close any non-essential programs before starting
Flash; if you keep track of what you're closing out, and close out only one
at a time, perhaps you'll find the conflict. Lastly, you might re-install
your OS.
In one of my machines, I have a sound card that doesn't like Flash (3&4)
and causes it to freeze frequently. I can get things moving again by
ctrl-alt-del but I don't reboot -- when the task manager screen comes up, I
simply click cancel or press escape, and things are rolling again. It's a
hassle, but nothing compared to your inability to make Flash movies.
