There is also another way. I think it's much easier with Java Script cause

you don't need a plugin just for a splash screen. Example@

Unless, which I recommend doing, is having a page informing them that there is a flash animation, do they want to see it and that they need the plug in to do so or you may want to look at some detect flash script in the page? This script is available from most of the example sites.
