umm aaah...
To Tom, John and Jason...
So I've spent the last 3 days trying to sort out the problem with my little
.swf file crashing on NT - I've removed all the Type1 fonts, changed all
the frame number targets to frame labels, included a preloader... the works
: It was still not working! When the page loads, the code automatically
generated by the Publish settings (Flash4) or Aftershock (Flash3), will
check to see if the Flash plug-in is installed.
The problem is this : If the user's browser already has the plug-in
installed, it carries on as normal, but because of some sort of Active X
control setting in the computer's (NT operating system) system registry, the
browser crashes.
Now when the person doesn't have the plug-in installed, and goes to the
macromedia website to install the plug-in, everything works just fine!! This
made me realise that there was something beyond the plug-in ro browser
causing the problem.
Then I found this file on my computer "InstallAXFlash.exe". When I ran this
file on the NT PC's who's browser's crashed -
Hey Presto! They did crash no more...
