Thanks Colin.  That's much easier than the way I'd started doing it

(creating an MC consisting of a huge text field, blocked off with big color

blocks, so that the top and bottom wouldn't show on the stage, a whole big

shitheap of a mess).


Since you seem to be the "variables dude", have you ever noticed that Flash

buttons reaction times slow down considerably when loading a large of

variables.  I notice that it can take up to 3-5 seconds to show the results

of an 'over' action.  And this is in test movie!!!!  I'm loading about 2875

characters via "Load Variables"
