FLASH: failure to detect

I used Flash to detect Flash by setting up a

little movie in Flash 4 that sends the user

on to the main movie with a go to and play if

they have Flash 4 and refreshes the movie in

five seconds to an html page if it doesn't.

It has worked fine until I tested it on a MAC

8100 with 8.5 OS in IE 4.01. 


This machine didn't have flash (which is why

I wanted to test it there) but the main movie

played through the loader and about 60

frames, ground to a halt and froze the

computer.


What happened? How could it play?
