For what it's worth, I think folks at the shop would like to be able to
offer this option. The difficult part is that, while MIDI files are small,
the MIDI players are not small... you can check various sizes at
download.com. Many systems have MIDI players already, but to detect, tap
into, and blend with these various devices is tricky too.
A prime design goal for the Macromedia Flash Player is to keep the
footprint small (so it's easy to download and ubiquitous), and to keep the
player platform-neutral (so it can migrate into portable devices, as these
come into production). The larger Shockwave Player can take advantage of
MIDI files, through the QuickTime layer, but fitting some type of MIDI
playback into the tiny Macromedia Flash Player is the sticking point right
now, sorry.
