I hope this will answer some questions about the project. The soldier has
to load fast for the web, but will also be it's own stand alone program
eventually. I don't have to do the VB programming side of it as we have a
team of programmers, none of which know Flash 5 language so I get to be
trained for that part. He will be 3 dimentional with the likeness of Mel
Gibson and Harrison Ford (so I can enjoy him on my computer) ... just
kidding.
We don't have a time limit on this project because it's a test to see if we
can do it first, then we will demo it when it works. He will have different
views like what you would see in a 3D game. Walking, turning, etc. I don't
want to much of a cartoon look, but I don't want a heavy bitmap realistic
look either so I'll pick a happy medium.
As for learning StudioMax, Flash 5 Action scripts, and programming, they
requested a budget for training, so I'm opting for Figleaf in Atlanta or
Warner Robins if they will come here. I can create the characters on paper
and will have to learn to put them in computer 3D. We are going to use an
actual person here on base to do the modeling via video, then convert video
to vector, then add voice. I know this is a complicated project we are
working on, but we have a very skilled team here that can hopefully make it
work.
I would like him to respond to keyboard actions and depending on what keys
are pressed, he will "speak" so I'm hoping to have a very sophisticated
voice recognition type of thing that can take each letter, sounds, of the
english language and put together sentences.
Does this help?
I guess I need to figure out what's needed to capture the video properly for
Flash to render too.
