you don't need a mask for that. just break apart your text and apply a
gradient that goes from a color to transparency.

Subject: FLASH: mask
Is there any way I can create a layer mask in Flash that uses a gradient
from a transparency to a solid color...
I want to apply this effect to text...
I want the lower half of the text to fade into the background jpeg.....at
the same time the text is going to be moving across the screen y axis.
I've been lookin ...but I can't find a way to accomplish this...
Yours Truly,
TOny
