Perhaps specify x-y coordinates in the Object Inspector?

Hi Flash experts!
I'm losing my mind here trying to align 2 elements of two different movie
clips on 2 different scenes. I know there must be a better way than playing
the movie, looking at the shift, then going back into a clip to move the
element and then play it again. I know how to use the align tool and the
onion skin when it's on the same timeline but what if on # movie clips?
This would be invaluable help,
thanks,
