Why Javascript?

What about Flash 4 ...Does this also use Javascript through the Actions???

I've been working with 4 for about six months now and I have been leery to
upgrade to 5
because I've heard on the lists that it is buggy....

Rather than learning 4, then trying to apply that knowledge to 5, you'd be
better served to just go straight to 5, and buy yourself a Javascript book
and
teach yourself JS simultaneously. JS will directly and enormously aid you
in
understanding F5, whereas F4 is just going to start you off in one
direction,
which you'll have to veer away from when you jump to F5.
