Flash 5 doesn't *use* javascript. F5 ActionScript was developed based on the
ECMA-262 spec, which is also
the spec which JavaScript is based. There are a few things in that spec that
are not adhered too by F5, but is mainly for backwards compatibility, afaik.
Learning javascript, which is very well documented, creates a fundamental
understanding of ECMA-262 spec languages causing you to be able to
understand the F5ActionScripting.
Flash 4's scripting is a rather unique and has very limited scripting
ability. F5 changed all that.

What about Flash 4 ...Does this also use Javascript through the Actions???
I've been working with 4 for about six months now and I have been leery to
upgrade to 5
because I've heard on the lists that it is buggy....
