I don't know why your bothering with gif's when using flash. To get the gif to
follow a path, create a motion layer. To do this, check out the Flash tutorial.
TO make it fade out, go to the last frame of the layer which contains the gif,
and set it's transparancey(Correct spelling?It's after midnight - and i really
should get off) to 0. Set a tween from the first frame to the last frame of that
layer.

Then, when the movie plays, the gif slowly becomes transparent, thereby creating
the fade out look. Fade in is the same, just in reverse
