You have to set the clicked variable as a global variable and then change it's value accordingly with each click of the button.  By setting the buttons action conditional upon the value of the variable clicked you can determine what the button will do when it is clicked.  But, you must initialize the variable first with an initial value before the button gets clicked the first time.
